WELCOME TO THE MDMA ALLIANCE!

The International Alliance of MDMA Practitioners, known informally as the MDMA Alliance, is a newly formed, non-profit professional organization for practitioners who offer MDMA-assisted therapy in legal settings. We provide community, connection, and resources for our members, advocate for the right use of MDMA-assisted therapy as the field evolves, set clinical and ethical standards for the field, and offer training and continuing education to practitioners.

Our founding members comprise many of the world’s leading experts on the inner-directed therapy model employed in the MAPS PBC / Lykos Therapeutics-sponsored Phase 2 and 3 clinical trials of MDMA-Assisted Therapy (MDMA-AT) for PTSD.

Who We Are:

Our founding members are highly experienced mental healthcare providers representing a diversity of professional and sociodemographic backgrounds, living and working across the globe.

We have collectively conducted thousands of hours of MDMA-AT through our work on clinical trials. We have also provided training and clinical supervision for MDMA-AT with hundreds of therapists around the world since the model’s inception.

Why We Exist:

Our mission is to advance the field of MDMA-Assisted Therapy across diverse settings, through education, advocacy, community, and development of best practices and standards of care, rooted in clinical and research experience.

Our vision is a world where MDMA-Assisted Therapy, offered in a safe, responsible, ethical, and equitable way, contributes to individual and collective healing and to the alleviation of global suffering.

For the first time since our incorporation in 2024, we are opening the Alliance to new membership. We are excited to welcome other MDMA-assisted therapists into our community.

If you meet the criteria below, you can complete our membership application here:

Apply for Membership

We invite you apply to join the MDMA Alliance if you:

Have experience practicing MDMA-assisted therapy in a legal setting*

– OR –

Have completed a qualified MDMA-assisted therapy training (MAPS, Lykos, IPI, CIIS, Naropa, etc) and practice another legal form of psychedelic therapy

– AND –

Are a licensed practitioner in the healthcare profession with one of the following licenses (or equivalent for international members): PhD, PsyD, LMFT, LCSW, LMHC, LPCC + MD, RP, NP, RN, ND, MDiv**
Have an active license in good standing
Have psychotherapy and trauma therapy training and experience. If you do not have training in psychotherapy through your graduate program, you need to have additional training in psychotherapy or counseling (ie MD’s, NP’s, RN’s, etc). This could include at least one year in a program such as Somatic Experiencing, Hakomi, IFS, Gestalt, etc
Adhere to and are in alignment with the Alliance’s forthcoming Clinical and Ethical Standards
Pay yearly membership dues of $300/year (if this amount creates a hardship, we invite you to pay the amount you charge clients for an hour of your time)

* does not include individuals who worked on studies but were not therapists
** for international members, if your degree is not listed here, please inform us of the degree & license that you hold
